In 2018 he took 1st Place in the International German Championship (brown/black, -76kg).

He’s also won the International German Championships in submission wrestling. He was awarded his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and in Luta Livre in 2022. Luta Livre is a related sport, where unlike BJJ, competitors are allowed to strike.
Since then, Max has won the NAGA Amsterdam Championship 2024 blackbelt (-74,9kg, master, Gi category). He was the Vice Champion of NAGA Germany Championship 2024 (blackbelt, director, -74,9kg).
Vegan!
Max is fully vegan. He turned vegan after thirteen years vegetarian. “I am vegan for the animals” Max says. “I am against animal exploitation, so I am vegan.”
“Sadly it took me so long to realize, that being vegetarian is not enough, when you are against the exploitation of animals. I encourage everybody to watch ‘Earthlings’ and ‘The Game Changers’. “
Max also supports The Lebenshof in Hunsrück, a sanctuary which provides homes for pigs, dogs, cows, cats, rabbits and many other animals.
The vegan diet supports him with no problems and as he enters middle age, he’s still in great shape.
“As a vegan martial artist at 40 years of age I can still train and compete at a high level” he says “and the only thing I regret is that I haven’t switched to a vegan lifestyle sooner.”
