World Cup Gold for vegan swimmer
The vegan mermaid has been competing in the World Cup in Budapest.
The synchronised swimmer already has dozens of World Cup medals, and added a Gold in Mixed Duet Free. It also gave her a personal best score of 213, way ahead of the previous, just over 200.
“We just went to swim our best once more, trying to enjoy the routine and specially not doing any ‘Basemark’ to make sure we swam perfectly.”
The 25 year old Spaniard finished transitioning to vegan in July 2021.
“I randomly started seeing some videos and thinking about the industry, and starting relating the animals with the food. Then I researched about all the industry and the impact and being conscious about what is behind our food and clothes especially. I felt it wasn’t me, I never could do that to any animal so I decided to not contribute to that by being vegan.”
The catering was excellent in Hungary, and Emma had no issues.
“The have the hotel dining room with the buffet full of different options, I could have tofu, falafel, legumes – perfect! They also have some vegan desserts like chia or tapioca pudding (besides fruits of course!)”
